Babes in Arms Birthday Ball -- 15th July 2010
Annabel Tye would have been 21 this year but she tragically died in 1990 as a result of cot death or 'Sudden Infant Death Syndrome'. Babes in Arms was established in 1991, a small independent medical research charity to find out why babies like Annabel die and to prevent other parents going through the pain of losing their baby. After raising over £2m in 2004 the founder of Babes in Arms, Annabel's mother Grace, decided to step down from running the charity and it became a separate Charity under the auspices of Northwick Park Institute for Medical Research.
Since that time the charity has grown and it now funds vital research not only in to cot death but in to neonatal and maternal mortality originating from complications during pregnancy. With funds raised, Northwick Park has established a globally unique unit investigating the placental causes associated with cot death which sadly is responsible for claiming the lives of five babies every week.
To commemorate what would have been a special birthday for Annabel, Babes in Arms is back at The Dorchester with a vengeance!
The Birthday Ball Committee invite you to join them for a one-off Birthday Ball - to raise funds for Northwick Park and the universally acclaimed Physiological Developmental Conference which Babes in Arms started in Leicester in 1992 and has continued to support every year. Both Northwick Park and the Conference are endeavouring to answer the question every cot death parent asks: "why did my baby die?". Join us, have fun and help them find the answer.
Tickets cost £150 each and can be bought from The Babes in Arms Committee at 4 Mill Lane, Old Marston, Oxford OX2 6UE, or contact Grace Tye at grace.tye@btinternet.com
